September’s community pilots stepping into the spotlight are the Drone Racing League’s Paul Nurkkala (aka NURK) and Jacob Schneider (Jawz). You remember Paul from the Flight of the Year video that went viral last year. Jawz shot to fame when he became the 2017 Bud Light pilot for DRL.
Starting on August 29th and through September 1, Jawz and Nurk (who happen to live down the street from one another) are taking an FPV road trip across the country. Follow along on Fat Shark’s feed as they make live updates to the Instagram Story and shoot photos from the road. You might just see some of your favorite pilots along the way.
Incidentally, this trip will coincide with the launch of Season Three of the Drone Racing League on ESPN, which launches on September 6th.
More on the pilots:
Paul “NURK” Nurkkala is a die-hard drone racing fanatic. After starting his FPV career in 2015 by building his first drone, he attended his first race just two short months afterwards — and won. Since then, Paul has climbed to the top of the drone racing scene, taking podiums in different leagues and venues spanning the entire globe. While Paul has an insatiable thirst for racing, his true passion is the FPV community. All these people from around the world share a common passion, and it brings people together from all different backgrounds, creeds, and beliefs — THAT is the true power of FPV, and that’s where Paul wants to be.
Jake “Jawz” Schneider got his start in drone racing in 2016. Driven by competition, he quickly made his way to the top. In less than a year Jake had earned himself a spot on ESPN’s Drone Racing League where he competes against many of the best pilots in the world. One of few career drone pilots, he is truly living the dream. He has had numerous wins and continues to push himself to be the best in the world of drone racing.
